A beautiful and rare treasure from Vienna! This antique covered goblet was made in Austria in the 19th Century. The Rock Crystal cup is mounted in silver-gilt with delicate and colorful enameling. The rock crystal is hand carved with eagles, urns and scrolls, and the silver mounts are embellished with cabochon pink sapphires set into the enameled borders. The enameled silver gilt finial is a full figure of Diana The Huntress in flowing robes. There is no damage or repairs to the crystal, and there is one pink sapphire cabochon missing from the band on the stem.
Marks are located on the lip of the cover mounting and the top edge of the vessel mounting. The six-sided lozenge with the head of Diana has a 2 on the left, indicating 900/1000 silver content, and an A on the right, indicating that it was made in Vienna. The oval lozenge is the maker’s mark, showing a letter W.
