Jacob Maris, Dutch  1837-1899, of Cows Grazing Before a Storm.   Signed and dated 1879 in lower right.  Painted on a hand planed hardwood panel.  There is old, faded pencil writing on the back of the panel.  There appears to have been no restorations…see two small chips at edges, and a small spilt in the wood panel.  Provenance: Sotheby’s New York
