It is almost unbelievable today to find such treasures! These are oil on canvas, and in the original frames. We know the provenance back to the original owner in 1786, who commissioned the artist, Angelo Giacinti Banchero to create these works of art for his palace in Genoa, Italy. The title of the first is “Tethys Presents the child Achilles to Chiron”, and the second is “Apollo gives the Caduceus to Mercury”. Each canvas is 78” tall by 58” wide. The size of each frame is 7’-6” tall x 5’-10” wide.
