This elegant Russian silver-gilt basket was made in the imperial capital of St. Petersburg in 1896 during the era of Tsar Nicholas II. The interior is lobed and gilded while the exterior is smooth silver and solid swing handle. The bowl is raised on a pedestal foot.
Stamped on the base with the crossed anchor and scepter hallmark for St. Petersburg, 84 for the Russian silver standard, with the assay master’s mark for Aleksandr Timofeyevich Shevyakov above the date of 1896. It is in excellent condition, with no dents or dings.  Weight: 22.7 ounce.
